Pentagonal Pocket Prism
This is a shallow cut 2-layer pentagonal prism.
Prisms like this have been built. They seem to be significantly easier than the corresponding deeper cut PentaStar types because of additional colour information available through the outer faces. I am still looking for a 3-cycle of edge pieces
to complete the (otherwise straightforward) solution strategy.
Java Applet Instructions
-
The Green Flag resets the puzzle.
-
Pressing the Spacebar scrambles the puzzle.
-
If you click on any of the five central edge pieces,
this cubelet and the two adjacent ones
are turned over by 180 degrees.
-
Pressing a turns the upper layer of the prism by 72 degrees
clockwise (as seen from above). The same can be achieved by clicking on the
leftmost face of the layer.
-
Pressing y or z turns the upper layer of the prism by 72 degrees counterclockwise (as seen from above).
The same can be achieved by clicking on the
rightmost face of the layer.
-
Pressing s turns the lower layer of the prism by 72 degrees
clockwise (as seen from above). The same can be achieved by clicking on the
leftmost face of the layer.
-
Pressing x turns the lower layer of the prism by
72 degrees counterclockwise (as seen from above).
The same can be achieved by clicking on the
rightmost face of the layer.
-
To solve the prism, you have to get the
top side yellow,
the left side green, the front side blue and the right side red.
(The orange back left face, purple back right face, and the white bottom are invisible.)
-
When you have solved the prism, your time taken is displayed
for some seconds.
