Java Applet Instructions

• The Green Flag resets the puzzle.
• Pressing the Spacebar scrambles the puzzle.
• If you click on any of the five central edge rectangles, this cubelet and the two adjacent ones are turned over by 180 degrees.
• To solve the prism, you have to get the top side yellow, the left side green, the front side blue and the right side red. (The orange back left face, purple back right face, and the white bottom are invisible.)
• When you have solved the prism, your time taken is displayed for some seconds.

Solution Strategy

• The central edge pieces never change place. They can only be turned over.
• First correct the positions of the corner pieces without taking any orientations into account.
• The move F - R - F - R - F - R turns the front central edge piece and the right central edge piece over without changing any of the corner pieces.
• To turn the front left and rightmost corner pieces over, use the following move: L - BL - BR - BL - L - R - F - R. Then correct the two central edge pieces using F - R - F - R - F - R and BR - R - BR - R - BR - R.
• To turn the front left and front right corner pieces over, use L - BL - BR - R - BR - BL - L - F. Then correct the front and right central edge pieces.
• Using analogous move sequences, correct the orientations of all corner pieces.
• Finally, if necessary correct the orientations of the central edge pieces neighboring pair by neighboring pair.
